Antennae vs. Antennas

A while ago my brother, an environmental planner, had to give a presentation about proposed radio antenna towers. He told me that the plural is antennas for radio towers, though it is antennae for ant feelers. This made sense to me as a word person. When ant tentacles were being classified by scientists long ago, the lingua franca of science was Latin. By the time radio antennas were being invented, the lingua franca of science was English. Latin pluralizes nouns with ae, English with s.
