I just got my first freelance assignment to help with publishing a study protocol. Journals are encouraging publishing of protocols from studies that are funded but not yet begun or completed. The reasoning would appear to be twofold. First, this lets others in the field know what techniques are being used in the most recently funded studies. Second, it addresses the bias in favor of publication of “positive” trials by making public a “paper trail” for every study, even those that eventually do not publish results. The incentive is another publication to add to one’s c.v. You might want to consider this avenue of publication. Let me know if I can help.
