Welcome to the cite vs. sight site

Cite a source (refer to it). Site a tent (place it somewhere). Sight a ship in the distance (see it).
How to remember: A site can be sighted; you can see it. When you cite a source, you cannot cight it. When you sight something, you have not sited it; it was already where you saw it.
Your optician is a site for sore eyes.
